Can underlayments be installed under luxury vinyl plank (LVP/LVT)?

Yes! We have two underlayment options for our GlueDown, Floating Floor, and LooseLay: FloorSilencer Flex and FloorSilencer Boost.

The ground-breaking design and technology of these underlayments provide unparalleled efficiency with the benefits of sound reduction, thermal insulation, antimicrobial moisture protection, and cushioning that reduces foot and leg fatigue without compromising floor-clip integrity. In addition, FloorSilencer Boost can raise the subfloor and smooth over some subfloor imperfections.

Make sure to only use FloorSilencer with our GlueDown flooring that is 4mm thick or greater, unless it is in a non-commercial space, then FloorSilencer Flex can be used.

To use our GlueDown flooring thinner than 4mm in commercial spaces, Leggett & Platt’s Whisper Step® (or an underlayment meeting the same specifications of density, thickness, and material type) may be used if desired. Please follow the underlayment manufacturer’s specifications and directions for installation. The installer/owner is responsible for making sure the underlayment is suitable for the installation.
