What are the approved methods of securing Urban Surfaces' flooring to a subfloor?

Fasteners such as nails, tacks, and screws should never be used on any of our floorings, as they can damage the structural integrity of the flooring and create openings for moisture to get through to the subfloor.

Below are the approved methods for securing Urban Surfaces' flooring.

Floating Floor

Urban Surfaces' Floating Floor collections such as Sound-Tec and Studio 12 Floating are not to be secured to a subfloor by any method. They should be allowed to shift slightly as they expand and contract due to thermal changes in the environment. Securing a floating floor will likely result in permanent damage to the flooring and possibly the space it was installed in.

LooseLay

Depending on room size, our LooseLay InstaGrip always requires at least some taping, adhesive, or our Traction Subfloor Coating.

GlueDown

Urban Surfaces' GlueDown collections such as Level Seven, Main Street, and Studio 12 GlueDown should only be installed with a full-spread of adhesive meant for GlueDown flooring. We recommend our 3010 adhesive for residential applications or 3020 adhesive for commercial applications.
